The new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa, has promised that there won’t be any safe havens for terrorists, bandits, or other enemies undermining Nigeria’s peace.

Additionally, he pledged that the Nigerian Military will use every effort to suppress all criminal groups throughout the entire nation.

Musa spoke of the military’s willingness to secure the nation when he made the disclosure on Friday at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, where he officially took over from Gen. Lucky Irabor (rtd).

In his capacity as CDS, he promised Nigeria that they would keep working to fulfil their duty to uphold national peace and serenity, and he gave every Nigerian the assurance they needed to feel secure. The Nigerian Military Forces were operational, extremely competent, and prepared to support them.

Nobody should question our commitment to bringing peace to Nigeria, he emphasised. Everyone should be prepared to face the consequences, especially criminals, robbers, terrorists, and anyone else who holds an opposing view.

The CDS stated that the Nigerian military forces would deploy in full force to protect the populace.

He promised to take the welfare of the frontline troops and the entire staff seriously, highlighting the fact that doing so will help the military get the most out of them.

Earlier, Gen. Musa was encouraged by the former CDS, Irabor, to make sure that the military’s worth and professional standards are maintained.

He said he was handing over to an officer who is tested and by all standard a model for the armed forces and appreciated the president for finding Musa very suitable to take over the reins of the armed forces.

He urged the Nigerian Military to redouble their efforts so that the cherished values and professional standard would be maintained, stressing that quite a lot had been achieved.
