The establishment of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) digital hubs in seven states has been announced by the federal government of Nigeria in collaboration with Wema Bank.

In a statement released on Sunday, Vice President Kashim Shettima said that the hub would provide one million young people with digital skills.

Following a discussion between the vice president and representatives of Wema Bank, Shettima claimed the administration decided to carry out the project.

The FGN/ALAT Digital and SkillNnovation Hub centres will first operate in the states of Lagos and Borno, with Katsina, Cross River, Anambra, Oyo, and Kano following suit, according to Shettima.

”They will be run in partnership with a leading financial institution in Nigeria, WEMA Bank. The strategic objectives of the programme include empowering young entrepreneurs by providing them with tailored financial products, training, and support to enable them to build sustainable businesses that will support the growth of Nigeria’s economy.”

The other goals, according to him, are to support young people who are tech-savvy and have a strong interest in digital innovations as well as those who want to advance technology by giving them access to funding, training, and strategic partnerships, as well as to empower young workers to become an essential part of Nigeria’s workforce, particularly those who are NYSC participants.

The vice president also stated that 500,000 SMEs will receive business development mentoring, while one million youngsters would benefit from training in software engineering, product design, and other digital skills.
