On Tuesday, armed police officers deployed tear gas against the 16 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Plateau State House of Assembly who were ousted by the Court of Appeal.
The legislators, accompanied by their supporters, had gathered at the Rayfield Old Government House in Jos on Tuesday morning in anticipation of resuming plenary when the altercation occurred.
Security forces, including the police, assumed control of the Government House premises, blocking the dismissed lawmakers’ access to the House of Assembly chambers. Despite this, the legislators remained determined not to leave the premises.
