The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has successfully captured two individuals engaged in the illegal trade of counterfeit US dollar notes in Abuja. The suspects, identified as Abdullahi Yahaya from Nasarawa State and Gold Ebere from Jabi, were apprehended at Tin Can Resort Garden in the Jabi area of the FCT.
Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh revealed that the individuals were found in possession of 36 bundles of fake $100 US dollar notes. Upon interrogation, they admitted to being part of an eight-member gang specializing in the interstate sale of counterfeit dollars. The gang reportedly distributed fake notes to unsuspecting FCT residents before their eventual arrest.
Igweh emphasized that the arrested suspects are cooperating with the police and providing information that could lead to the apprehension of the remaining members of the gang who are currently evading arrest. The FCT Police Command is committed to curbing such criminal activities to protect residents from financial scams.
He urged residents to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities that may pose a threat to the security and financial well-being of the community.
