As they travel to Guinea-Bissau, a country in West Africa that speaks Portuguese, the Super Eagles will be looking to bounce back from their devastating loss to the Wild Dogs of that country in the Group A 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
Francis Uzoho was placed in a dangerous situation after conceding a goal by Mama Samba Balde in the 29th minute, keeping Nigeria in a disconcerting second place on the log table.
Jose Peseiro, the head coach of the Super Eagles, urged composure despite the defeat and blamed Nigeria’s fifth loss on bad luck.
He stated, “We missed numerous goals.”
“We could have stayed here for a further hour without scoring.” In football, it can happen occasionally.
“Of course, I’m not happy.” I’m depressed, just like my squad,”
Time for Guinea-Bissau vs. Nigeria
The Super Eagles were able to secure a 2-0 victory in the first meeting between the two countries in the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon. This will be the third time the two countries will face off.
