Yemi Alade, a popular Afrobeats singer, expressed frustration about the current state of the country, noting that Nigerians are showing cruelty towards each other amidst the daily rise in prices.
She shared her thoughts on her social media account, mentioning her concerns about increasing electricity tariffs and fuel prices.
The Afrobeat star also lamented the unstable exchange rate between the naira and the US dollar, saying the currency is dancing “Alanta.”
Alade said while all these are going on, Afrobeat artists are making a mess and their fans are picking sides instead of facing the government.
“Electricity Tariff& Fuel are at a 400% increase.Naira to $ is dancing alanta.
The weather is unbearably hot.
People are busy being wicked 2each other with daily increase in prices.
Salaries have not been increased.
Afrobeat artists are making the mess & u r picking sides instead of facing ur government,” she said.
Alade’s frustration arises amidst ongoing fuel shortages across the country, worsening the hardships faced by Nigerians.
Furthermore, her statement coincides with a growing rift between two Afrobeat superstars, Ayo Balogun (Wizkid) and David Adeleke (Davido), which has caused division among music fans on social media.
