ay says he won’t turn down national honour.
” So my allegiance is to a country where i have contributed my own quota, and i am more than  happy to be rewarded by the same nation.”

Despite requests to decline the national honour bestowed upon him, comedian AY Makun has refused.

He was one of the 379 Nigerians who received national honour this past weekend, according to the Federal Government.

The Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) honour was bestowed upon him. Because he was endorsing Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), many of his supporters urged him to decline the honour.

But the comedian rejected the notion. Those of you calling me out or urging me to reject “A National Honour” are obviously missing a key point, he tweeted.

” Our country is bigger and more important than any president or political party  awarding it.

“A national honour is the highest recognition anyone can get for his or her contributions to nation building.

” So my allegiance is to a country where i have contributed my own quota, and i am more than  happy to be rewarded by the same nation.”

On June 1, the recipients are expected to pick up their medals and certificates.
