As punishment for allegedly disobeying the court’s order, Peter Mbah, the governor of Enugu, has asked a federal high court in Abuja to imprison Yusha’u Ahmed, the director-general of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

The certificate possessed by Mbah was not issued by the corps, according to a letter from NYSC in February that was signed by Ibrahim Muhammad, the program’s director of certifications.

Mbah submitted an ex parte application to the federal high court. Following that, the NYSC was prohibited from issuing any more disclaimers on the certificate.

As a result, Mbah sued NYSC, alleging conspiracy, deceit, and misrepresentation of the truth, and sought N20 billion in damages.

Additionally, he requested a declaration that his certificate of national service was revoked due to “fraudulent design, suppression, and misrepresentation” on the part of the scheme and its director for corps certification.

The governor filed an application on Thursday, claiming that Ahmed disregarded the court’s order from May 15, according to Emeka Ozoani, his attorney.

“The plaintiff applies to this court for an order for your committal to prison for having disobeyed the order of this court,” the application reads in part.

“Take notice that unless you obey the directions contained in this order, you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison.”

Although the matter was scheduled for hearing on Friday, the court did not sit and the case was consequently adjourned to July 4.
