Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, a chef from Nigeria, has broken the record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”

The chef broke the 87-hour, 45-minute record set by Indian chef Lata Tondon, the current holder of the Guinness World Record, on Monday morning.

On Thursday at precisely 4 o’clock in the afternoon, Baci started the competition by turning on her cooker.

Hilda continues to cook despite having already broken the record in an effort to set a new record for the longest period of time spent cooking—96 hours—and become the first person to do so.

Government representatives, well-meaning Nigerians, celebrities, and clerics have all continued to show their support for the chef.

In spite of the heavy downpour that Lagos experienced early on Monday morning, Nigerians continued to support her.
