Osun State Chief Judge (CJ) Justice Adepele Ojo has told parties in the case of the alleged murder of an Obafemi Awolowo University postgraduate student, Timothy Adegoke, that it would communicate the judgment day to them in due course.
This followed the adoption of submissions by prosecution counsel led by Chief Femi Falana (SAN) and defense counsel led by Malam Yusuf Ali (SAN) at Thursday’s sitting of the court.
For more than a year, Dr. Rahmon Adedoyin, the owner of the Hilton Hotel in Ile-Ife, and six staff members have been on trial for allegedly killing Adegoke.
Yusuf Ali adopted his arguments but insisted that no evidence had been presented against his clients that proved their involvement in the victim’s death.
Additionally, K.K. Eleja, Roland Otario, Muritala Abdulrasheed, and Okon Edet claimed that none of the witnesses who had testified against their clients had any evidence to support their allegations. They urged the court to dismiss the case to prevent punishing innocent people.
Justice Ojo thanked the attorneys for their cooperation before adjourning the case indefinitely pending judgment and making a commitment to let them know when the decision would be made.
