Renowned Nigerian singer Davido has touched down in the country and is poised to participate in the upcoming candlelight procession and tribute event honoring the late Afrobeat sensation, Mohbad.
The 30-year-old artist took to his Instagram account to share videos of his arrival in Lagos on Wednesday, documenting his journey back home. The social media clips captured the moment Davido, a prominent figure in the Afrobeats genre, landed in Lagos and his interaction with fans as he stopped to savor some Suya at a different location.
It’s worth recalling that earlier in the week, the DMW boss hinted at his return to Nigeria from London in preparation for the procession dedicated to Mohbad’s memory. This decision follows an official announcement on the singer’s Instagram page that a candlelight procession and tribute concert would be held in Lekki, Lagos, on Thursday, September 21. The post expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love received from fans worldwide and urged everyone to join the event to honor the late artist.
Davido, deeply affected by the untimely passing of the 27-year-old Mohbad, shared his emotional state, revealing that he found it difficult to sleep in the wake of the tragic news.
“MOHBAD, UR SPIRIT STRONG OOO… SLEEP COME HARD Me,” he wrote.
