Abdul’aziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State, cannot be detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) or the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) while the motion on notice is being heard and decided, according to an Abuja Federal High Court.
Also, the court barred the Department of State Services (DSS) from holding the incoming senator.
The order was given by Judge Donatus Okorowo in a decision he made on an ex-parte motion on Monday.
The judge commanded the respondents (EFCC, ICPC, and DSS) to provide justification for not granting the petitions requested in the motion ex-parte at the next adjourned date.
He decided that the respondents couldn’t hold the applicant until the return date for the order to show cause.
The matter was postponed until June 8 so the respondents may provide justification.
