The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) Secretary and member of the House of Representatives for the Ikeja Federal Constituency, Honorable James Faleke, has resigned from the race for governor of Kogi State.
Faleke failed to show up before the Senator Abubakar Sodangi-led panel screening APC aspirants ahead of the party’s April 10 primary election.
The APC primary poll set for April 10 will be preceded by the vetting of candidates by a committee headed by Senator Abubakar Sodangi.
In a statement, the Secretary of the APC PCC stated that he decided not to run for office out of respect for the interests of the country.
“I am of the opinion that my personal interests must not override national interests.” I, along with several other supporters, worked hard for the election of our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It would be out of place for me to jump out of the team to start pursuing personal goals.
“The people who bought things on my behalf meant well, and I appreciate them.” I am pleading with them and my other numerous supporters in Kogi State to see the larger picture and to note that I am still with them in spirit, body, and soul. “I will continue to contribute to the development of the state.”
