A female passenger who was being abducted by a commercial motorcycle rider, also known as an “Okada rider,” was saved by a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) patrol team in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The patrol team along the Abeokuta-Sagamu route on Sunday rescued the woman from the Bajaj bike rider, who was identified as Dauda Usman and had a bike with the registration number PKA211WA RED BAJAJ, according to Florence Okpe, an FRSC spokesperson in Ogun.
“When the FRSC team were informed by some commercial motorcycle riders of a woman being taken away by a suspected bike rider due to the alarm raised by the woman on bike,” Okpe said the incident happened at around 3 o’clock.
The patrol team reportedly stepped in right away and secured the bike rider’s arrest.
After being questioned, the woman informed the FRSC patrol leader that the rider did not stop when they arrived at the agreed-upon location inside the Immigration Centre in Abeokuta.
According to reports, the Okada rider moved on to a different location after the woman called for assistance. Some bike riders who were waiting at the Laderin Estate junction immediately followed them.
She said, “The patrol team was able to rescue the woman with the assistance of other bike riders and handed them to the police Special Weapons and Tactics team SWAT.”
