Abubakar Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate in the most recent general election, claims that even if the tribunal invalidates the 2023 election that elected Bola Tinubu as president, paradise won’t end.

Atiku said that the February 25 election was the worst in Nigerian history in a last appeal filed by their principal attorney, Chris Uche (SAN), disputing President Tinubu’s declaration as the winner of the presidential election.

Despite the adoption of a new electoral act, the introduction of promising technological innovations to ensure transparency, a significant investment of public funds, and guarantees by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that conducted the election, the petitioners claimed that the election was marred by blatant subversion of the will of the Nigerian voters.

Atiku claims that INEC used a “technical fault” as justification to “deliberately manipulate” the election results by suppressing and undervaluing his votes while exaggerating Tinubu’s.

In the speech, Atiku’s attorney claimed that INEC had already declared Tinubu the winner even though Tinubu had fallen short of the constitutional criteria to receive at least 25% of the votes cast in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

In light of the forfeiture judgement against him of the sum of $460,000 for narcotics-related crime (proceed of crime) in the United States and his holding dual citizenship, Atiku and the PDP informed the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) that Tinubu was constitutionally prohibited from running for the office of President of Nigeria.

“With respect, reflect a complete misconception and unfortunate misunderstanding of the case of the petitioners, notwithstanding the magisterial arrogance, condescending cynism and overbearing misanthropy with which he has sought to trivialise the petitioners’ case.

“A subtle threat of apocalyptic catastrophe of national chaos and anarchy if a judgement is not given in a particular manner cannot deter the court of law from doing justice,” Atiku’s petition indicated.
