Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, has responded to the viral video featuring BBNaija star Phyna, in which she was seen questioning police officers for filming her without cause.

As reported by The Nation, Phyna engaged in a heated argument with the police operatives over the weekend when they began recording her without apparent justification. This prompted her to reciprocate by broadcasting the encounter on social media.

The officers had pulled over her vehicle for a routine stop and search, during which they recorded her. The police officer explained that capturing images and footage of individuals they are monitoring is within the bounds of the law.

This explanation left Phyna visibly upset, as she claimed to be unaware of such a legal provision. She went on to strongly criticize the officers, urging them to take action against her and questioning the reasons for the animosity directed at her.

In response, SP Benjamin pointed out the double standard in which Nigerians readily record police officers but feel harassed when the reverse occurs, highlighting the inconsistency in public sentiment on this matter.
