A Nigerian man named Tembu Ebere, who identifies himself as a comedian, recently made headlines after attempting to cry continuously for 100 hours in order to establish a new Guinness World Record. His ambition to initiate a seven-day nonstop cry-a-thon gained rapid traction after he shared his plans in a viral social media post.

Unfortunately, Ebere’s extraordinary endeavor took an unexpected turn, resulting in partial vision loss. In a recent interview with the BBC, he disclosed that his excessive crying caused him to experience excruciating headaches, swollen eyes, and a puffy face. Ultimately, he endured 45 minutes of temporary blindness as a consequence of his relentless weeping.

Despite encountering these challenges, Ebere expressed his determination to persevere, stating, “I had to re-strategise and reduce my wailing.”

It is worth noting that Ebere has not officially registered his attempt with Guinness World Records, which means it will not be officially recognized, despite his claim on social media. The exact cause of his temporary blindness has not been revealed by the BBC, but it is suggested that it could be related to headaches and increased pressure in the eyes.

Furthermore, the official records website has witnessed a surge in record attempts in Nigeria, including a notable four-day chef cooking marathon that captured public attention.
