Nigerian artist OJ Brown has addressed the significance of securing a consistent income for budding musicians in their early careers.
Brown underscored the crucial role financial stability plays in helping aspiring talents navigate the challenges of the competitive industry.
He voiced his concern about the challenges faced by many emerging artists, who, despite their remarkable talent, encounter obstacles due to financial limitations.
He said: “Lack of steady income could affect negatively building a career, yes! In every business one needs money to build it, especially in trying to put what’s inside you out there for people to buy because it’s not like you are selling a product that has value… talent can’t be measured so in some cases one needs it to be way top notch for it to be sellable.”
OJ Brown who is also an entrepreneur and CEO of DaddyTutti Nation among other businesses also discussed the role entrepreneurship has played in his career.
He said: “Being an entrepreneur has helped me in my musical career financially in several ways, cause it allows me to monetize my records, even though I do not have that much audience that I need at the moment, at least I get little support from one or two angles based on my music financially and that can keep me going with the help of God till I’m able to break through big time.”
