As a result of the devastating effects of climate change, the energy crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will attend a meeting of world leaders on Thursday, June 22, in Paris, France, to review and sign the New Global Financial Pact.

On June 22 and 23, the President will take part in a two-day summit that examines ways to give fiscal space back to nations that are struggling with short-term financial issues, particularly the most indebted; to mobilise creative financing for nations at risk from climate change; to promote development in low-income nations; and to encourage investment in “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies.

In order to provide access to finance and investment that will leverage inclusive growth, President Tinubu and other world leaders, multilateral organisations, financial experts, and economists will examine the recovery of economies from the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact and rising cases of poverty more comprehensively.

The Summit will take place at Palais Brongniart and be hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.

Members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and senior government officials will travel with the President. He will return to Abuja on Saturday.
