The Supreme Court dismissed a suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking the disqualification of President-elect Bola Tinubu and Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima for alleged double nomination on Friday, May 26.
In a decision that allowed Tinubu and Shettima to take office on May 29, the Supreme Court determined that the PDP lacked the locus standi to bring the lawsuit.
Adamu Jauro, the judge who handed down the ruling, noted that the PDP acted as an intrusive interloper and a busybody by filing the suit.
The court went on to call the PDP’s actions “misleading” and “sad.”
The apex court awarded a sum of N2 million against the PDP and dismissed the suit for lacking merit.
