Oladips, a Nigerian rapper whose real name was Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, has passed away. His management confirmed the news through a statement posted on his Instagram page on Wednesday. According to the statement, Oladips passed away in the late hours of Tuesday after a prolonged internal struggle lasting over two years.
The cause of the 28-year-old rapper’s death remains unknown at this time. The statement mentioned that Oladips’ body is currently with his family, and plans for his funeral will be disclosed in the near future.
“We are saddened to inform the general public that Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji aka OLADIPS has passed away yesterday,” the statement reads.
“On November 14th Tuesday evening at exactly 10:14pm. We are still in shock as we speak!
“For over 2 years he has kept his battles within himself, his body is now with his family and funeral services will be announced as soon as it is concluded!
“The family asked that we respect their privacy in this trying time. May God give us all the fortitude to bear this great loss.”
Born on March 24, 1995, Oladips was a native of Ogun State. Rising to fame, the rapper achieved recognition by securing victory in D’banj’s ‘King Is Here’ competition.
This triumph led to a record deal with Edge Records, a label owned by Reminisce, another prominent rapper.
