Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), conveyed his dissatisfaction on Wednesday, March 6, regarding the movement of cattle within Abuja city. Wike reassured concerned residents of Abuja that measures are being taken to halt the roaming of cattle within the city center.
He made these remarks in Abuja during a meeting with the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, His Excellency, Daniel Bertrand.
Wike disclosed that he has initiated comprehensive discussions with various relevant stakeholders to address the issue of cattle roaming in the city. He emphasized the necessity of employing multifaceted strategies to combat insecurity in the FCT, stating that the administration was already adopting such approaches to counter criminal activities.
Furthermore, Wike highlighted that his administration has intensified efforts to collaborate with private sector transportation entities to bolster security in the city. In his initial remarks, Ambassador Daniel Bertrand, who expressed concerns about the roaming of cattle on Abuja streets, expressed satisfaction upon learning that the minister had taken steps to tackle the issue.
Bertrand also expressed interest in facilitating investments from his country to collaborate with the FCTA in the development of the nation’s capital.
